I'm excited to go to 6th grade but I'm also gonna miss elementary school. I'm looking forward to having my freedom and moving around to classes. I like that we get to pick our spots at lunch. I think the lunch looks good. I can't wait to have ice cream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna miss not having field day and not having southeast showtime. But there is a talent show so I'm looking forward to that. I hope that I have a friend with me in P.E. because I'm probably gonna fail at roller blading! But over all I'm excited for 6th grade.
Have you ever wondered if a squirrel would make a good pet? Well when I was little I wanted one so bad! Let me tell you more. Squirrels are cute but they really shouldn't be pets. But believe it or not they used to be pets. The early colonists were kept wild animals and squirrels were the most popular. Over time people figured out that squirrels are wild animals and they need to be in the wild. Squirrels are very energetic and the inside of a house is not the best place to run around in. They have really sharp teeth that can cut through curtains, clothes and human skin. Now you can see why squirrels aren't good pets. Now a days it's illegal to keep a squirrel as a pet which is a very good thing!
I LOVED my spring break! I went to the Mall Of America with my family. I road this ride called the Brain Surge. It's this ride where you get in the cart and there is a lever that you pull to go upside down. Me and my sister got stuck but the ride stopped and our cart got back to it's normal position. I also went on a ride that was sorta like the monster at Adventureland. It was scary but fun! When I was in Minnesota I stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge. That was fun too!! When I was at the mall I ate at Dick's Last Resort. It was really funny! When I came home I watched netflix. I also had some sleepovers. I had a great Spring Break!!
Do your parents work out a lot? They might use a fitness trackers. How do those work? Thanks to blue tooth, fitness trackers can connect to your phone and you can check how many steps you have taken and check your heart rate. Fitness trackers use newer technology and algorithms to track and estimate a wide variety of fitness measures. Fitness trackers collect data that can be processed with an internal computer chip and/or a smartphone application. Depending on what type of fitness tracker you have, it may have additional sensors. Unfortunately, fitness trackers sensors aren't perfect. Data gathered can vary widely across different devices. Even if fitness trackers aren't perfect they still help you lose weight right!?
So the Olympics have started. There is so many countries. Do you ever wonder how many there are? I'll tell you! The International Olympic Committee decides who will come to the Olympics and where the Olympics will be. First of all the country that is coming to the Olympics has to have a National Olympic Committee (NOC) that the International Olympic Committee has approved of. In the Winter Olympics there are fewer countries and athletes that compete. This is because many countries around the world don't have snow around them so they can't participate. At the 2012 Winter Olympics there was approximately 2,800 athletes from 88 countries. So this year at the Winter Olympics there is 92 countries participating. Make sure you watch the Olympics this year! Thanks for reading!
The Olympic games started almost 3,000 years ago. They had the games every four years in Olympia, Greece. The Olympics are called the Olympics is because they started in Olympia. The games were in honor of the famous god Zeus. But then the games ended for 1,500 years. They started back up again in 1896 in Athens, Greece. About 50 years after the first games started two more games were added to the Olympics. A 400 meter race and chariot racing. In that time only men could compete in the Olympics. Married women couldn't watch the Olympics. A roman emperor Theodosius I was a Christian. He didn't believe in the Greek Gods. So he ended the Olympics. Then 1,500 years later the games started back up again. French leaders felt that physical education was important. In 1892, there was a meeting in Paris to make new Olympic games. Two years later the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was started. They decide the rules and games for the Olympics. At the first game in 1,500 years, there was 60,000 people, watching 250 athletes, from 14 different countries. There was 43 events that the athletes competed in. These events included track and field, gymnastics, swimming, wrestling, cycling, tennis, weightlifting, shooting and fencing. No games took place during the two World Wars. The rings of the Olympics represent different countries. In 1924 the Olympics were held in Paris, France. Women were able to compete. For the first time there was a closing ceremony. The winter Olympics were added. The winter games included figure skating, ice hockey, bobsledding and the biathlon. Make sure you watch the 2018 Winter Olympics!
