Have you ever wondered when was that sweet, soury, sugar candy made? I have. If you are wondering I can tell you. Human beings have had a sweet tooth for honey thousands of years. In the early days the people learned that honey produced by bees was sweet. It didn't take long for the people to combine honey and nuts to make homemade candy. Because records go back a few thousands of years it's impossible to pinpoint exactly when candy was made and who invented it. In the middle ages sugar became a popular ingredient to make candy. Some of the earliest candies were used as medicine. It was used for digestion and a sore throat. It was not until a couple of hundred years later that machinery would be invented to mass produce candies. The earliest candies were basic like candy corn and bubble gum. In the 20th century candy bars made their appearance and they were a huge success, spurring the popularity of candy to a whole new level! Thanks for reading my post!
On September 11, 2001 everyone was minding their own business and going about their day. But then early in the morning it was no longer a normal day. CRASH!! Everybody wondered what was that sound? At 8:46 A.M. a plane had crashed into the north "Twin Tower". People thought that it was some type of horrible accident. But then at 9:03 A.M. another plane had crashed into the south "Twin Tower". And another plane crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 A.M, and another crashed in a field in Pennsylvania at 10:03 A.M. After that people knew that this was no accident, the country had been under attack! The fuel that the planes used caused an intense fire and extreme heat In the "Twin Towers". Eventually the building's structure gave out and the south tower collapsed. Following the south tower the north tower collapsed a half hour later. 2,996 people passed away because of the terrorist attackers, but not just in New York. A lot of the 9/11 heroes had lost their lives after the buildings had collapsed. 343 firefighters, 72 police, and 55 military personnel. The passengers in the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania also sorta saved the Washington Monument and the White house. knew they were gonna die but they did it anyway. Where the "Twin Towers" used to stand are now fountains with the people who died that have their names carved on it as a memorial to remember that day and the people who lost their lives. No one will never forget that very sad day.
Have you ever wondered how old the toy you and your mom grew up playing with? Well let me tell you. For most of history, dolls were made to look like babies ( thus the term baby doll) that young kids could play with. Well that all changed March 9, 1959. That's the day Barbie made her debut at the american toy fair in New York City. Inspired by her daughter Barbara, Ruth Handler created the Barbie doll as an older, lifelike figure to help children focus on the future and what they might want to be when they grow up. Ruth Handler made Barbie to represent the fact that a woman has choices. Handler made the Barbie doll the first mass-produced doll in the United States with adult features. It's original design was based upon Lilli, a German doll that was based upon a cartoon character. The Barbie doll became a huge, success selling 300,000 dolls in it's first year. Barbie's full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts and she comes from a fictional town of Willows,Wisconsin. Handler's husband found Mattel Creations and due to Barbie's early popularity they created more dolls including her boyfriend Ken, her best friend Midge, and her little sister Skipper. More Barbie stuff kept coming out including cars, houses, and fashion clothes. More Barbie dolls came out too. Barbie is still an icon today. Although Barbie turned 50 in 2009, by that time sales of Barbie merchandise had passed $1 billion annually. Since her debut, well over 8 billion Barbie dolls have been sold. Does that answer your question? Thanks for reading!!
